Wren Rapture (formerly known as Ren Alessandra) lives at the intersection of storyteller, ceremony, and inheritance — a poet, performer, MC, and qualified civil celebrant (registration pending) whose practice refuses to sit idle in any single medium.
Born into the Italo-Australian diaspora, Wren has spent the past decade in classrooms and on stages exploring the impact of our stories and our spells. Her show Wog Girl was commissioned by the State Library of Victoria, and her poems are published in the Library's (In)Visible Libraries initiative.
A former Australian Champion, Wren delivered a TEDx talk in August 2024 on the impact of being cancelled by her community. She has been commissioned by organisations worldwide and on home soil, including Rotary International, Federation Square, TAFE NSW, and Sustainability Victoria, to name a few. She has performed at the Melbourne Recital Centre and appeared at London's best-known open mic, Spit!, in December.
A teacher before becoming a full-time creative practitioner, Wren's instinct to educate and learn in symbiosis has never left her work. As an MC, she brings warmth, sharp timing, and an ability to read the room shaped by years of training and experience. In 2025, she became the first female facilitator for the mental health charity The Man Cave, working with teenage boys in schools to explore stereotypes and normalise a wider range of masculinity. As a mentor — through private coaching of people aged 8 to 80 — Wren has worked across cultures and life paths to help people explore their voice, and what it means to answer the question: what do you really want to say?
She has facilitated sold-out courses, events, and experiences across Melbourne, and is currently producing a season of student showcases for BIBA Hairdressing Academy, where hairdressers in training celebrate their creativity with stylists and models. Her flagship event, Wordcraft — "Melbourne's premier open mic" — returns for its sixth year this Spring at Bar 303 in Northcote.
